I researched the theories of Buddhism in order to help me create my animation. The theme of my animation is happiness, both the abstract feeling, and the materialism of people nowadays who only concentrate on possessing
physical objects. Happiness is easily misunderstood, because it has a wide meaning and it is an intangible feeling. My story is about some one who is chasing happiness, but he does not know what real happiness is.
In order to extend the boundary of animation, my work will blend 2 dimensions motion graphics and 3 dimensions animations together. Basically, most 2D motion graphics present only technique and style to catch the audiences attention with a subtle story and theme behind them. In the contrast, most 3D animations try to tell a story in a realistic style. Even if some of them are presented in a cartoonish design, still there is the reality of cartoon. Thus, my work is an experimental animation using a collage style to fuse 2D and 3D together, using very stylized elements, layout and design, and a story about chasing happiness in order to make a new style of animation.
