Thesis Title:
lovehateNYC

lovehateNYC is an interactive web project that chronicles my love-hate relationship with New York City. This project consists of twenty love, hate and love-hate memories of New York City. Each lovehate memory is visually and aurally represented though a panoramic time-lapse sequence made up of digital still images and sound recordings. The purpose of this thesis is to constructively focus upon transfiguring love turned hate back into love, while also reviving the power of illusion through Raul Ruiz’s concepts of shamanic cinema. By crafting images according to the Ruiz’s concepts of shamanic cinema, one will open up the mind to the shamanic methodology of blending the boundaries between reality and fantasy. Through the panoramic time lapses of lovehateNYC, I am attempting to invoke in the viewer the passion that provokes the innate polarity, the yin and the yang of New York City.
