Thesis Title:
The Dynamic Abstraction: A Study and Experiment in Visual Music

This thesis intend to study the idea of using music analogy to create an aesthetic purity arts that has been proposed by Wassily Kandinsky. The dominant concept of this thesis is primarily to create music visualization. This thesis will provide an immersive experience from the dynamic abstract imagery. It also proposes using computer programming; MAX/MSP, Jitter and Processing to create the real-time simulaneous performance of dynamic abstraction.

My research into Visual Music will present 2 different projects which share the same theory and programming expression but the result will never look the same. Using the same metaphor that was inspired by Wassily Kandinsky quote: Music sound has a direct access to the soul. The principles of color music and audio visualization
theory will apply in this research.

The primary reason of this thesis is a self exploration which is trying to answer the obnoxious sensation or “ synesthetic experience” of meself. By answering this question, the content of this thesis will provide knowledge in Visual Music and Abstract Art in depth. I also discuss and analyze the process of creating my work. The final result of this thesis will manifest my artistic idea of my visual music experiments.
